Get Started

Step 1: Soften Butter

Start with softened butter. Make sure it is not too soft or melted. It should be just soft enough to press your finger into easily.

Step 2: Cream Butter & Sugar

Cream 3/4 cup of butter and 1 cup of sugar until well incorporated. Add one egg and 2 teaspoons of vanilla and mix until light, fluffy, and paler in color.

Step 3: Add Dry Ingredients

Add 2 1/4 cups of flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, but be careful not to overmix.

Step 4: Refrigerate

Take time to chill! Refrigerate your dough for 30 minutes to an hour before rolling it out.

Step 5: Roll, Cut & Chill

Roll out your dough on a floured surface, cut into desired shapes, and place onto a lined baking sheet. Chill for 20-30 minutes before baking.

Step 6: Bake & Decorate

Bake cookies for 7-10 minutes or just until the edges are a light golden brown. Be sure to let them cool before decorating! Get started with our Cut Out Sugar Cookie recipe.
